Portable Window Air Conditioner - Something New
Among the many types of air conditioning units, the window type air conditioners and the
portable air conditioners are the ones normally being compared. Window type ones are set up into one of the windows
in the house. Normally, these units are large and weigh heavily, with varied BTUs to choose from. They are cheaper
as compared to central air conditioning units. Portable air conditioners on the other hand are mounted on cabinets
on wheels making it easy to bring from one room to the other. Two inventors thought of combining the best of both
worlds and came up with the portable window air conditioner.
Theodor Bolton and John Michaels designed a window type air conditioning unit that has an easy
installation feature and can be removed easily any time for storage, specifically once the hot season has ended.
These inventors designed the portable window air conditioner with a handle that is retractable making it easy to
lift, carry, and transfer from one place to another which is similar to a portable air conditioning unit.
The portable window air conditioner is made of materials (a retractable handle that just slides
within the major panel) that have the strength and durability needed for removal form the window frame, lifting and
transferring and at the same time does not need special tools with its quick and easy installation feature.
Side curtains that are expandable in size are one of the main features of the invention that are
designed to smoothly move against the window frame, initiating the closing of the unit opening when not in use. An
exhaust duct located at the top of the unit is responsible for releasing the air. This is definitely an improved
unit having the advantages of both the window type and the portable air conditioner.
